At the Trafford Council Executive meeting on Monday, 13th of December 2021, there is an agenda item on a Leisure Strategy Review which provides an update on the leisure investment strategy and refurbishment options for Altrincham, Sale and Stretford leisure centres. The council however uploaded a statement to the council’s website on Tuesday, 7th of December 2021 stating that the investment had already been approved by the council’s Executive. The story has also been featured on another local media site.
Commenting on the announcement, Cllr. Dylan Butt, Shadow Executive Member at Trafford Council for Culture and Leisure said “It’s appalling that Trafford Labour appear to have pre-determined a decision, one which has huge financial implications for the council . By not following procedure and by telling the press that a decision has been made without any debate is quite unacceptable and is further evidence of Trafford Labour’s lack of respect for the democratic process.”
