Altrincham and Sale West to house 296 Male Asylum Seekers.
As your local Conservative Councillors, we believe this practice is unacceptable and must be addressed urgently. Be it in Altrincham and Sale or any other areas in Trafford.
The impact of this situation on our community cannot be overstated. In the case of the Cresta Court, Altrincham has worked hard to rebuild its reputation as a vibrant town, recently being awarded, "Best British High Street", from the dark old days in 2010 of it being a Ghost Town when 30% of the shop units where boarded up.
Labours' current use of hotels for asylum seekers undermines the crucial role these establishments play in supporting our local tourism industry and economy and breaks their own manifesto promise.
We are also aware of growing safety concerns within the community. Many residents feel uneasy about the implications of housing asylum seekers in Altrincham's hotels, so close to our schools, we must prioritise the well-being of our constituents. A fact that seems to be lost on our Green Councillors and our Labour MP and council.
Furthermore, we are alarmed by the lack of a coherent plan from the Labour Party and the Green Party who seem content to allow this imposition without objection and appear to be more concerned about the new hotel guests than the residents we are elected to represent. Their position seems to be, to impose with no consultation, regardless of the significant challenges we face from their decisions.
To demonstrate local concern, we are launching a petition to address the use of any further of Trafford's hotels for this purpose and demand the council push for the urgent closure of this facility and return it to support our town. We encourage all residents to add their names and share their thoughts with us, so we can present a unified voice to the Government and our MP, who has been notably absent in this discussion.
Your support in this matter is crucial. Together, we can advocate for a solution that respects the needs of our community while addressing the broader issues at hand.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. we look forward to your support.
