The Jubilee Community Centre is at risk, with the Council placing it on its disposal list and seeking buyers.
Cllr Lisa Hancock, Bowdon ward councillor, is acutely aware of just how valuable this building is - frequent using the centre herself - and says, "So many local people use this facility regularly, and it's a real life line as one of the very few spaces that we have in the area for the community to meet and hold birthday parties, baby groups, keep fit activities, etc. We must act now to ensure Labour guarantee it is foremost in any developer's plans to build on this land."
Cllr Dr Shengke Zhi, another of the ward's councillors, says "We firmly believe that the Labour-run council should only consider future development of the site if the developer commits to ensuring that they build a new community centre within any proposed development. We should be investing in and improving our community assets, not simply selling them off to the highest bidder with no concern for the needs of the community. Please sign our petition to show the Council our united front."
